Peer Recovery Navigator/ Forensic Peer Navigator

Passages to Recovery, Inc. (Passages), a non-profit organization in Pittsburgh PA, whose mission is to provide recovery-based services that focus on substance use while addressing contributing factors of trauma, mental health, and family systems. We are looking for independent, "out of the box thinkers" with knowledge of resources and services in Allegheny County. The Peer Recovery Navigator works in partnership with individuals in recovery from substance use disorders, who may benefit from recovery support services provided, in the community, at the offices of Passages to Recovery or virtual recovery support. This is a full-time field position based in our Swissvale offices, which have free parking and easy access to the Parkway (Interstate 376). GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Engage individuals in caring, collaborative relationships
  • A basic understanding of mental illness and trauma.
  • Provide support navigating institutions, and situations that effect recovery. (Courts, CYF, Treatment facilities)
  • Willingness to share lived experiences in recovery.
  • Provide culturally responsive care/
  • Ability to help individuals through crises.
  • Link individuals to resources, services, and supports
  • Provide service linkages for health, wellness, and recovery services.
  • Promotes recovery in the community through leadership, advocacy, and teamwork.
  • Able to work in the community 65% of time and complete paperwork in timely fashion.

MUST HAVES:

  • Current certification as a PA Certified Recovery Specialist and/or Certified Family Recovery Specialist (CRS/CFRS) or be eligible to obtain CRS/CFRS certifications within 1 yr. of hire.
  • At least one year of experience working in community-based recovery settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured personal transportation.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office Suite and videoconferencing applications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete 40 hours of professional development training per year.
  • Effective, empathetic, and non-judgmental communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Able and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Able to obtain current ACT 33 & 34 Clearances, and additional clearances as required.
